The notification feature

At Education Lessons our aim is to provide you with the best lessons and notes that help you with your studies of college and school. An integral part of that is to let you know when we publish a new video or write new notes. If you have subscribed to our YouTube channel you will already be getting notifications when we publish new videos.

Since Education Lessons is a non-profit work done by a small group of friends, we might sometimes require a little more time to release notes(for the video) on our website after publishing the video. And we wanted a way in which we could indicate to our students about the new content that is being published on our website. A means that is more noticeable but yet subtle enough to not distract you while reading notes or watching videos on our website.

Alerts on website Existing alerts on web

Previously you might have seen alerts on our website, like the picture shown above. We used these alerts to tell our students about new content being published as well as general announcements like change in privacy policy of Education Lessons. While these alerts served us well, we hit a few limitations with it for eg. accessing all the alerts, its presence with a factor of subtly, user friendliness, etc. Moreover, the alerts would stay on the website for a limited period of time and having more than one alerts would start looking ugly as they would stack one on top of another above the header.

Keeping all these limitations of alerts in mind, we have created a new in-web notifications feature, that we have rolled out today and made it generally available to all. Starting today you’ll be able to see a bell icon in the header of our website(as shown in the following image) where we’ll be putting messages when we publish any new content on the website like notes, quiz on notes, videos, blogs or any other new content related to important questions.

Moving further we also plan to write blog posts that can help you more with your studies. We hope this feature can keep you updated on new content that we publish.

Until then...
