Mass and Weight | What is the difference? | Gravitation class 9
Download Notes
Hello students, Is there any difference between mass and weight?
If someone asks you about your weight, then what will you say?
Same way if someone asks about mass, then what will you say?
The whole explanation regarding this is given in this video.
All the Objects present around us are made up of small small particles, for eg chalk (if you will keep on breaking the chalk, then you will get it's powdered form.)
Same way all the Objects in universe are made up of particles or matter.
Those Objects having less matter will have less mass, and those having more matter will have more mass.
So mass is defined as a quantity of matter.
One more definition of mass: It is defined as a measurement of inertia. (Objects having more inertia will have more mass, while objects having less inertia will have less mass.)
Weight: It is the Force of attraction of the earth on the object.
It is given by W=mg
